The company

This is Global Marine consultancy which offers a unique opportunity to develop with the Marine, Energy, offshore, ports and harbour industry.

The role

We are currently looking for an ambitious and reliable Master Mariner with STCW Class 1 certification to be based in the office and eager for frequent site and offshore work on our worldwide oil and gas projects. The appointed candidate will be part of the marine operations team. The office-based work will consist of a variety of technical and procedural reviews and marine operations study reports. Subject areas will include transport and installation of oilfield structures, vessel specifications and upgrades. Quantitative and qualitative risk analysis of offshore operations will form part of the reviews.

The site and offshore work will include supervision and approval of marine operations, vessel IMCA and suitability surveys and safety audits. Marine insurance warranty work forms a major part of the organizations Maritime’s onshore and offshore activities. In addition, offshore work may include acting as client’s representative during offshore installation works.

The person

Ideal qualifications will be in the form of a first class certificate of competency preferably with command experience. Your experience should include sea-going experience in the offshore oil and gas industry with experience in anchor handling and rig moving, tow and/or supply operations or DP experience as a certificated DP operator. Background experience with offshore operators and a capability to adapt to the variable working environments required by our clients is also sought. SMS auditing experience is preferred. The suitable candidate will have a broad spectrum of experience of the identified marine works and will be capable of producing high quality documentation in the form of technical reports. Previous experience of tanker vetting and ship inspection regimes (e.g. OCIMF, IMCA auditing) would be a distinct advantage.

We will also consider applications from suitable candidates who have a number of year’s sea-going experience in deep sea and/or coastal tanker operations.

Onshore (marine consultancy) experience is an advantage. Candidates must be excellent communicators with particular skills in technical reporting and able to work within a small team, as well as independently. Candidates must be medically fit for offshore work.
