Faststream Recruitment consultant Matt Atkins has completed his Joint Aviation Authority Private Pilots License (JAA PPL) in Ormond Beach, Florida, USA. The three week course was a reward from Faststream in recognition of all Matt’s hard work in the last quarter.

Matt, who works within the Shipping division at Faststream, was put through intensive training both in the air and on the ground before finally being awarded his license. In the air Matt operated a PA 28 Warrior (pictured below) and passed seven ground exams and written papers back on terre firma. Matt also passed a ‘Solo Qualifier’ which now allows him to fly un-accompanied. The training for this included a 150 nautical mile solo flight with two take-offs and landings.

Matt commented: “One of the highlights of the trip came when undergoing my solo night-flying training. There was a huge electric thunderstorm 30 miles north of my position and the view of the lightning crashing down to earth was quite unique – I’m sure that any budding storm chaser would have loved to have been in my seat”.

Managing Director of Faststream Recruitment, Mark Charman added: "Recognising and rewarding peoples achievements has always been an integral part of Faststreams business structure. We're pleased that Matt made the most of his trip, and glad he's back in one piece!"
