Broadgate Tower is being built on a raft weighing 6,000 tonnes over the rail tracks of Liverpool Street Station in the city’s financial district. There will be 14,000 tonnes of steel used, 877 steps in the staircase, 40,000 square metres of glass and a view from the top of over 45 kilometres.
Original designs for this site began in 1991 and went through numerous options before deciding on the tower. On completion, and a £240 million investment, Broadgate Tower will be the 3rd tallest building in the City and will feature the first ever ‘double-decker' lifts to be used in the UK.
