Maritime Week 2007, being held in Singapore this September is holding a specialist Maritime Human Resource Summit which will span across two days and aim at focusing on the shore-side shipping sector’s human capital investment and future growth.

The world’s first and only shore-side focused event returns to Singapore for a 2nd edition offering greater focus, depth and insight into HR issues surrounding the sector and how the industry is working towards making it a vibrant and attractive workplace.

Faststream Recruitment’s Managing Director, Mark Charman will be making a speech on day two of the summit which will focus on the ‘War for Talent’ in the shore-based shipping sector. The talk will include an insight into global reward levels, trends in shore-based shipping recruitment, details of what this sector can learn from other markets and how the industry can attract and retain top talent.

Mark commented: “The candidate-short climate which is currently being experienced throughout the industry brings the topic of recruitment to centre stage. The Maritime HR Summit is one of the first events to centralise the issue of HR in shipping and help make positive steps towards generating a number of potential global solutions. The Summit will bring together a host of industry professionals which makes it a highly important part of Maritime Week”.

Capt Mark E.S. Heah, First Deputy Director of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore will open Maritime Human Resource Summit which is being held between 25-26 September 2007 at the Marriott Hotel, Singapore.
