The role
In this position you will be sailing on LNG carriers
You will be expected to assist the Chief Engineer in the orderly management of the vessel’s engine room.
This will include but is not limited to:
• Allocating duties and responsibilities to the other Engineer Officers, Cadets and Ratings including providing support, guidance and assessment as required.
• Ensuring the safe and efficient function, maintenance and repair of the boilers, propulsion unit, cargo handling equipment, components, spaces and all machinery and electrical items used in the operation of the vessel.
• Undertaking watch-keeping or day-work duties, with authority over subordinate Engineering staff in the Engine Department.
• Instigating, delegating and supervising routine engineering duties and responsibilities required in normal vessel operation so as to ensure that all machinery is maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
• Liaising with the Chief Engineer on the procurement of spare gear and equipment and ensuring the correct stowage, labeling and preservation of spare gear.
• Making use of all expertise available on board for the safe and efficient maintenance of electrical equipment - including the safe isolation, at the point of work, of electrical machinery requiring disconnection for maintenance.
This position is offered on a permanent basis with the rotation pattern of: 3 months on 3 months off.
The person
To be suitable for this position you will have the following qualifications and experience:
An STCW Second Engineer Officers (III/2) Certificate of Competency
Fluency in written and oral English
Previous sailing experience on LNG vessels
Please note that this position is being offered on a permanent basis.
As this position sits within the European fleet the immediate right to live and work in the EU is essential.
