The role

In this position you will be sailing on LNG vessels.
You will be expected to assist the Master and Chief Officer in the safe navigation and operation of the vessel.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Keeping a safe navigational watch as directed by the Master.
• Preparing the bridge for sailing including preparing and testing steering gear, telegraph and other engine controls in conjunction with an Engineering Officer.
• Taking responsibility for the maintenance of safety equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: lifeboats and lifejackets, flags and halyards, the Admiralty list of lights, and Emergency Life Saving Appliance set checks.
• Undertaking Deck Department duties including mooring and anchoring operations and receipt of stores.
• Participating in cargo and ballast operations as required.
• Assisting the Master in the administration of the Catering Department in the absence of a Catering Officer.
This position is offered on a permanent basis with the rotation pattern of: 3 months on 3 months off.

The person

To be suitable for this position you will have the following qualifications and experience:
An STCW Officer of the Watch (II/1) Certificate of Competency
Fluency in written and oral English
Previous sailing experience on LNG vessels
Please note that this position is being offered on a permanent basis.
As this position sits within the European fleet the immediate right to live and work in the EU is essential.
