Chief Engineer

We currently have a Chief Engineer vacancy onboard the RRS Ernest Shackleton, primarily a logistic support vessel dealing with all our Antarctic bases. Voyages are typically four months in length, sailing for the Antarctic in October and returning in May. The period between May and October is usually spent working in the North Sea as a DP class2 vessel. Applicants must hold valid STCW 95 certification and be physically capable and medically fit to working in Antarctic conditions.

Employment is on vessels operating the UK Strategic Sealift Service and therefore permanent employment is conditional on seafarers obtaining and maintaining Sponsored Reservist status, certain benefits are paid for this requirement.
