The company
Our client is an expanding European and Middle East situated organisation, who operate in the Marine and Offshore sectors. Their main business areas are divided into two areas: the first dealing with Marine and Offshore Supply Vessels and the second Engineering Services (ship repair, fabrication & maintenance).
The role
As an in-house Lawyer for a medium sized, offshore shipowning company you will be responsible for the overall legal function within the organisation.
• Your main role will be to prepare charterparty contracts for the company’s OSV’s, as well as minimizing risk and exposure.
• You will manage the company’s approach towards litigation as well as instructing and drafting briefing material for external parties.
• You will also be responsible for Mergers and Acquisition legality frameworks and S&P contracts.
The person
You will have a Law Degree and experience of practicing Shipping Law (4 yrs PQE+).
You will have experience dealing with charterparty contracts within the offshore / oil and gas industry.
Ideally you will have experience with ship finance, M&A and marine insurance.
You should have strong negotiation skills.
You will be responsible for the development of mentoring of a junior paralegal and so effective communication skills are essential.
