Senior Highways Design Engineer Permanent To deliver large and complex highways schemes (or several smaller schemes) and provide highways advice for the other schemes to deliver the outcomes agreed by the Network Board to the programmes and budgets agreed with the Delivery Teams • To provide Professional and Technical Excellence in highway engineering. • To report to the Delivery Teams on a bi-weekly basis on performance against budget and programme • To understand the condition of the highways asset (drainage and safety fencing) and identify areas where it needs improvement • To identify schemes that need to be considered in the Four Year Programme • To aid the Bid Managers in the CVM process • To allocate tasks to other members of the Highways Teams and report to the Highways Team Leader on resourcing issues • To manage large project teams within the Highways Team • To aid the Highways Team Leader in managing the resources in the Highways Team to deliver the agreed outcomes for highways schemes • To aid the Highways Team Leader in ensuring that the Highways Team have adequate training and resources • To aid the Highways Team Leader manage external resources used by the Highways Team • To agree the briefs, programmes and budgets with the Highways Team Leader • To prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables for highways schemes • To allocate tasks to other members of the Highways Team and monitor progress • To monitor the designs produced to ensure they meet the design briefs set by the Delivery Teams • To ensure designs are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence • To seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them • To ensure that the quality system is actively applied to all highways schemes To £34k - South East Hot job
