The two day Marine Careers Fair was held in the first week of February at Newcastle University. It was attended by a large number of UK adn overseas employers from industries including: shipbuilding, offshore, oil and energy.

The fair was organised to help students meet employers and find out more about the graduate schemes which are available to them. With the current industry skills shortage, students are now realising their value to employers and aware of the various graduate training programmes which are on offer.

Faststream's Mark Charman commented: "Specialist recruitment companies wuch as Faststream can help graduates realise their potential by offering practical advice on their career strategy. It's important that students are aware of all the opportunities available to them, which is what makes the event a success".

Heather Shelley, Graduate Programme Secretary at The School of Marine Science and Technology comments: "The event is going from strength to strength, with companies and consultancies from all over the world attending this year. The feedback from students has been excellent".
